friendly greeting from one of our experienced and dedicated members of
staff. We aim to ensure that your appointment and time with us exceeds
your expectations – during a sometimes anxious period.

and Chris Burge.
Longfield Consulting
Rooms - a brief
history
In 1972 Bill and
Joan Thomas
established
Longfield Consulting
Rooms following the
closure of the
practice where Joan,
an ex-Nurse, worked
as a Secretary.
This was a large
step to take,
changing a family
home into Medical
Consulting Rooms but
help and advice was
forthcoming from a
number of senior
Consultants and in
September 1972,
Longfield opened its
door to patients for
the first time.
Over the 40 years
Longfield has grown,
in Consultant and
staff numbers and
now the whole of the
property is
dedicated to the use
of the Consulting
Rooms maintaining
however some of the
building’s Victorian
heritage in the
non-clinical rooms.
As described by one
patient “ Its
Newport’s own little
Harley Street”.
Whilst Longfield has
expanded we have
been careful not to
lose sight of the
original aims of
Joan, to provide a
caring, friendly but
efficient and
professional
environment for
patients, their
relatives or carers.
Longfield Consulting
Rooms remains an
independent family
run establishment.
